This memorial website was created in the memory of our loved one, Ian Nottage who was born in United Kingdom on May 13, 1963 and passed away on April 25, 2006 at the age of 42. We will remember him forever.
I cannot think you're not alive somewhere. I think of you just as I did before. No sudden gust of wind has closed the door Or made your presence vanish in thin air. I write you this because I know you're there; That even after death there must be more. So does faith one's inner sun restore After bitter darkness few can bear. My mind and heart have not yet lost a friend Even though my senses are bereft, For you remain the witness of my soul. No mere accident our love can end So long as I have will and memory left, And you lie silent on some unknown shoal.

"Our abiding memory of Ian will be of trying to keep a straight face at a Public Board meeting as he started to strip off his clothes at the back of the room. We don't think he had any idea just what an impact he was having as he started to undo...

Tribute from Wealdon District Council 26 April 2006
Councillor Ian Nottage
It is with great sadness that Wealden District Council has learnt of the death of Councillor Ian Nottage who has represented the Uckfield New Town Ward since 2003. Councillor Nottage was killed in a road traffic accident on April 25.
Paying tribute to her Liberal Democrat colleague, Councillor Mrs Laura Murphy said: “Ian was a rare person in today's world. A young man with a growing family, and a demanding career as an independent IT consultant, he still managed to find the time in his busy life to represent his community and stand up for the principles he held dear. Ian used his unique humour to get to the heart of what was important for the residents of Uckfield. He championed their cause and we have all lost someone who was special.”
Councillor Nigel Coltman, Leader of Wealden District Council said: “Councillor Nottage will be missed by the Council. As a new Councillor he was admired for not sitting back but being willing to 'learn on the job'. He was not afraid to ask difficult questions, and challenge the accepted way of doing things - he will be a hard act to follow. Our thoughts and sympathy go out to his family.”
Councillor Nottage was a strong supporter of the Council’s work on affordable housing and the environment, and served as Deputy Chairman of Licensing Committee. In a short time, he had established himself as an authority on the Council's new role in liquor licensing, helping contribute to the successful introduction of the scheme.
