Born in Guildford, United Kingdom on May 13, 1963.

Attends Raleigh County Primary School

Attends Howard of Effingham School

Starts his degree at Bradford University

 
1988
Graduates from Bradford University after taking 6 years to do a three year course (he was enjoying student life so much he didn't want to leave!)
 
1988
Begins his first job with the NHS (National Health Service); he will remain employed in the health sector for the rest of his life.
 
1990
Meets Karen, who later becomes his wife, at a party thrown by a work colleague.  His first words to Karen are:  'What the hell happened to your hair?'
 
1993 June 5
Ian and Karen marry at Brixton Registry Office, London.  Their 'do it yourself' reception is held in the Penthouse of New Zealand House in the Haymarket, London (where Karen works).
 
1994, April

Daughter Amy is born with a condition that is non-compatable with life and dies the same day.

 
1995
Jake born on Ian's birthday (May 13).  Ian named Jake after the character in the Blues Brothers movie.
 
1996
Alec born 26 June, his name is chosen from a name often used in Karen's family.
 
1996, July

Alec has his first operation for a serious congenital heart defect.

 
1996, August
Emigrates to New Zealand hoping for a better life style for the children.
 
1997, July
Begins flying lessons out of Christchurch Airport.
 
1999, April
Returns to live in the United Kingdom
 
1999,October
Timothy is born on October 1.  Ian gets to pick the name this time and selects Timothy Taylor, one of his favourite breweries in the UK.
 
2001

Elected for Town Council for the Uckfield New Town Ward

 
2003, May
Re-elected to Town and District Council for the Uckfield New Town ward.
